Bodenkissen und Liegematten werden in Asien genauso gerne verwendet wie man in der westlichen Welt St\u00fchle vor findet. Aus diesem Grund fallen asiatische Tische in der Regel viel niedriger als europ\u00e4ische Tische aus. Im Allgemeinen gibt es auf den asiatischen Kontinent viele Monokulturen, die direkt auf dem Boden sitzen und essen, wobei die angerichteten Teller mit Nahrungsmitteln ebenfalls auf dem Boden positioniert werden. Im R\u00f6mischen Reich war es \u00e4hnlich wie in vielen asiatischen L\u00e4ndern, da r\u00f6mische Tische eine noch geringere H\u00f6he hatten als asiatische Tische. Die R\u00f6mer pflegten, sich bei der Nahrungsaufnahme an den <a title=\"Am Tisch speisen.\" href=\"http:\/\/www.wissen.de\/lexikon\/bei-khublai-khan-zu-tisch\">Tisch <\/a>zu legen.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Nichtsdestotrotz findet man in Asien genauso wie auch in Europa Tische vor, die haupts\u00e4chlich verwendet werden, um Gegenst\u00e4nde h\u00f6her positionieren zu k\u00f6nnen, damit mit ihnen leichter zu arbeiten ist. Hohe Tische haben in der westlichen wie auch in der fern\u00f6stlichen Welt ihren Einsatzort in B\u00fcros und anderen R\u00e4umen, die der Arbeit gewidmet sind. In vielen asiatischen Haushalten ist der h\u00f6chste Tisch meistens der Schminktisch.
